Lake Nakuru

9 Days

Overview

Hundreds of thousands of flamingos live in the picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park, which is located on the floor of Kenya’s Rift Valley and bordered by woodland and bushy grasslands.

The lake’s concentration of algae encourages the large number of flamingos that famously line Lake Nakuru’s beaches. They feed on the abundance of algae that flourishes in the lake’s warm waters. Unfortunately, recent studies show that the numbers have declined significantly due to rising water levels in the lake, which impacts the amount of algae on which flamingos rely.

Lake Nakuru National Park is presently one of Kenya’s two premium parks and the only fully fenced park in the country.
