Today after breakfast, you will proceed to the Mara Reserve. The road trip to Mara is full of interesting sightings and you will make stopovers along the way. You will stop for about 20 minutes at the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint for the valley viewing and photography then proceed with your journey to Masai Mara. You will arrive in good time for check in and lunch before departing for afternoon game drives. The Mara terrain changes like the wind. The next try to outdo the previous one by doubling its magnificence and wildlife variety. During the game drive, you will be taken to the park’s wildlife hotspots to better your chances of wildlife spotting and great photography. Some of the animals you are likely to see on your evening game drive include the big five, giraffes, antelopes, impalas, hyenas, and many big cats, including the lions. Optional activities at an extra cost include hot air balloon safari, guided nature walks, bush lunch/dinner/breakfast, bird walks, and evening sundowner. All meals and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge www.sopalodges.com Meal Plan (FB)
Today after an early breakfast, you will have a full day game drive into the reserve. Morning game drives are quieter, more intimate, and the best shot you have at spotting the elusive Mara cats. You will, on your path, see hundreds of grazers nipping on the dewy morning grass. If you look closely, you will likely see a bush-camouflaged prey readying itself for a kill. To the southwest lies the Serengeti border, to the northwest the Siria Escarpments, and east the Mara River. From 1st July to 31st October, the annual wildebeest migration takes. This event involves over a million wildebeests, impalas and zebras crossing from the Serengeti National Park to the Masai Mara through the Mara River filled with crocodiles and hippos and making it past the banks dotted with the even more dangerous lions, cheetahs, and leopards is a memorable experience. You will stop to have your packed lunch or return to your hotel or lodge for hot lunch then continue with your afternoon game drive for more wildlife spotting. Masai Mara is home to numerous wildlife species including elephant, rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topis, impala, gazelle, warthog and zebra among others. Later in the evening, you head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge www.sopalodges.com Meal Plan (FB)
After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and have one last game enroute as you head back to Nairobi arriving in good time for an early dinner at the Nairobi Carnivore before you are dropped off at the pick up point or an airport transfer for your flight back home. The menu often includes beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and exotic meats such as crocodile, ostrich, and sometimes game meats like antelope or camel. Due to its unique concept and setting, the Carnivore Restaurant is a major tourist attraction and is often recommended as a must-visit place for those traveling to Kenya.
