DETAILED ITINERARY

Nairobi National Park – 4hours (0630hrs – 1030hrs)
You will be met by our representative at the agreed pick up point very early in the morning where you will have a short introduction and briefing about your safari then depart to Nairobi National Park. Nairobi National Park is the first park to be gazetted in Kenya on 16th December 1964. It is located about 7km south of Nairobi and it’s the only wildlife park in the world that is so close to the capital city. Nairobi National Park consists partly of thick woods near the city outskirts, partly of rolling plains and valleys, and partly of wooded confluence of several rivers, its vegetation is of the dry transitional savanna type. Acacias and other thorny varieties, muhuhu, Cape chestnut, and Kenya olive are the most important trees that acts as habitat for the wildlife in the park. The park is a major rhino sanctuary for breeding and restocking other parks and is a home of over 100 mammal species having four of the Big five (lion, Buffalo, leopard, rhino) other animal species include the zebra, black rhinoceroses, giraffe, various species of antelope as well as numerous reptiles and among others in. Nairobi National Park has over 500 recorded bird species at least 20 of which are seasonal European migrants, some of the bird species in the park includes the Secretary bird, Lesser kestrel, Martial eagle, Pallid harrier, Sooty falcon, White-bellied bustard, Grey crowned crane, Corncrake and many others. The Park is amazed with other attractions like the Ivory burning Site Monument, Walking trails at hippo pools, Nairobi Safari Walk and the Orphanage. Despite its proximity to the city and its relative small size, it boasts a large and varied wildlife population, and is one of the Kenya’s most successful rhinoceros sanctuaries.

 

David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage “Haven for Elephants and Rhinos” – 1hour (1100hrs – 1200hrs)

Upon availability, your next stop will be David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage which is located in Nairobi National Park and it is where an orphan’s journey begins — a journey that will culminate, many years down the line, in their reintegration back into the wild. The public visit takes place every day, except 25th December, from 11am to 12 noon. During this time, you will see the elephants being fed and playing. other than the elephants, the orphanage also takes in the rhinos and you might be lucky to see the young rhinos as well. the keeper will give you a brief history of where the elephants came from and how they are progressing.

Lunch at Carnivore Restaurant 1hour (12:30hrs – 1:30hrs)

You will break for lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant. Carnivore Restaurant is a popular dining establishment known for its focus on meat-based dishes. The restaurant is famous for its “Beast of a Feast” concept where a variety of meats, including game meat, are roasted on traditional Maasai swords over a large charcoal pit, which is situated in the center of the restaurant. The menu often includes beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and exotic meats such as crocodile, ostrich, and sometimes game meats like antelope or camel. Due to its unique concept and setting, the Carnivore Restaurant is a major tourist attraction and is often recommended as a must-visit place for those traveling to Kenya. The ambiance is typically rustic, aiming to give an authentic African dining experience. The restaurant often features traditional African decor and sometimes live entertainment. Giraffe Centre – 1hr 30min (0200hrs – 0300hrs)

After lunch, you will visit the Giraffe Centre which is located in Karen approximately 4 kilometers from Karen Blixen Coffee Garden & Cottages. It was established in order to protect the endangered Rothschild giraffe found only in the grasslands of East Africa. The main attraction for visitors is feeding giraffes from a raised observation platform using the palm of your hands or even your mouth. If you are lucky enough, you can get a kiss from these unique creatures. The centre is also home to several warthogs which freely roam the area along with the giraffes.
